The Mad Inventor

Mr Herbert Bumblewaite is known locally as "the mad inventor" as he is always collecting whatnots to make some sort of contraption with. On a crisp Autumn morning he decided to test out his latest invention which was his flying contraption.......

All the details of how I made this little Autumnal scene can be found on the Indigoblu Blog

Thank you for flying by, if you bump into Herbert on your travels could you please send him home!

I made this before my operation, and the good news I am getting movement back in my finger, and I am excercising it well so I hope to be back to crafting very soon.I miss it!

I used a mixture of Luscious Pigments and water in a spray bottle. The little trees are from the Indigoblu Winter Woodland stamp set.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

Pooh is 90 years old Commemorative Frame

Our Silly Old British and Much Loved Bear Winnie the Pooh, became the grand age of 90 on 14th October 2016. So I made this Enchanted Place to commemorate the occasion.

My Blog is called The Enchanted Place after the Enchanted Place in the Pooh stories by A.A.Milne.I Love, Love, Love Classic Pooh by E.H.Shepard and A.A.Milne.

I made this before I had the op on my finger, the good news is I am slowly getting movement back.I hope to be back crafting again soon!

I cut the template above in card and covered it in Modelling Paste, dabbing it with the spatula to raise it up a little. When dry I used Hot Coca and Peppermint Tea paints to cover it.

I found the silhouette of Classic Pooh and Christopher Robin online and printed it out. I then traced the outline and transferred it onto black card and cut it out.I adhered their feet to the top of the hill.

The frame was an inexpensive wooden frame, which I covered in Flitterglu and Chocolate Box Megaflakes.

I painted some card with Grandmas Teacup, Wimberry and Iced Gem paints. I cut it to fit the inside of the frame. I used black Archival ink to stamp the Pooh sentiment from the Caitlin Stamp set in the top right hand corner of the card.

I found some black number stickers in my bulging old sticker box, and I covered them with Megaflakes.

I picked some twigs and herbs from the garden and coated them in Slap it On. When dry I adhered them to the hill and the front of the frame.

Many Happy Returns Pooh!

Thank you for visiting, I hope to see you again soon

A Special Cake for a Special 90 year old bear

We made this Classic Pooh cake today for Pooh's 90th Birthday.I am happy to say that I managed with my dodgy hand to mould the marzipan into a sort of Winnie the Pooh shape.

I can't hold a pen properly or anything yet but I am thinking up ways I can still craft. I will share anything I think up along with notes on how I managed. I know that I am not the only one with this problem.

This concludes my celebration week of all things Pooh, I hope that anyone visiting enjoyed it.

Happy weekend to you all.

Today Pooh is 90 years old!

Happy 90th Birthday Pooh!

Today it is 90 wonderful years since A.A.Milne's Winnie the Pooh book was first published. Our silly old British bear was bought to life by the extraordinarily talented E.H.Shepard. The stories have bought fun and happiness to many generations all over the world. I could not imagine my life without Pooh and friends in it!

"Pooh when I'm you know - when I'm not doing nothing, will you come up here sometimes ?"

"Just me?"

"Yes Pooh"

"Will you be here too?"

"Yes Pooh, I will be really. I promise I will be Pooh."

"That's good" said Pooh

"Pooh promise you won't forget about me ever. Not even when I'm a hundred"

"How old shall I be then?"

"Ninety nine"

"I promise"he said

Still with his eyes on the world Christopher Robin put out a hand and felt for Pooh's paw.

"Pooh" he said earnestly "if....if I'm not quite..." he stopped and tried again."Pooh whatever happens, you will understand won't you?"

"Understand what?"

"Oh nothing" he laughed and jumped to his feet "Come on !"

"Where?" said Pooh

"Anywhere" said Christopher Robin

So they went off together. But wherever they go and whatever happens to them on the way, in that Enchanted Place on the top of the Forest a little boy and his Bear will always be playing.

"Supposing a tree fell down, Pooh, when we were underneath it?"

"Supposing it didn't," said Pooh after careful thought.

Pooh cake and Crafts and Whatnots

I made this Pooh cake oooh... probably well over 10 years ago. I made it for my Classic Pooh website, I even wrote a tutorial about how I made it with photos etc. Of course I can't find them now! I am planning on making another cake for Pooh's 90th Birthday this Friday 14th October! Depending on how it turns out I will put it on the blog.

This was one of my first attempts with stampbord, which I also made years ago, it was the latest new thing to try back then!

This is a more recent Pooh whatnot.

Thank you for stopping by, I hope you are enjoying my week of Pooh. Hopefully my hand will be recovered enough to get back to crafting soon!

Gills Lap

The Pooh take over continues... Today I thought I would share the real 100 acre wood with you, which is the Ashdown Forest in East Sussex, England. All of the places mentioned in the Pooh books can still be found in the forest. Gills Lap ( known as The Enchanted Place in the book) Poohsticks Bridge where you can still play Pooh sticks and many more. There are several walks you can take to visit the Pooh places the details of which can be found are here.

There is also a shop nearby called Pooh Corner where they sell pooh souvenirs.Christopher Robin used to visit that shop as a child to buy his penny worth of sweets.

A memorial to A.A.Milne and E.H. Shepard can also be found in the forest.

"They walked on, thinking of This and That, and by-and-by they came to an enchanted place on the very top of the Forest called Galleons Lap, which is sixty-something trees in a circle; and Christopher Robin knew that it was enchanted because nobody had ever been able to count whether it was sixty-three or sixty-four, not even when he tied a piece of string round each tree after he had counted it. Being enchanted, its floor was not like the floor the Forest, gorse and bracken and heather, but close-set grass, quiet and smooth and green. It was the only place in the Forest where you could sit down carelessly, without getting up again almost at once and looking for some where else. Sitting there they could see the whole world spread out until it reached the sky, and whatever there was all the world over was with them in Galleons Lap."

A Pooh Takeover!

Oh goodness my crafting blog has been taken over by all things Pooh for his 90th Birthday week! Today I am sharing a few Lovely Pooh Bears. Pooh Signatures by Deans Bears. Deans is the oldest British teddy bear company. They started making their gorgeous bears in 1915.

Gabrielle Designs made these wonderful Pooh sets. They were also famous for making their Paddington bears. Sadly they went out of business in the 90's.

“Piglet sidled up to Pooh from behind. “Pooh,” he whispered.

“Yes, Piglet?”

“Nothing,” said Piglet, taking Pooh’s paw, “I just wanted to be sure of you.”
