Happy 95th Pooh

Today is the 95th birthday of Winnie the Pooh! I have always loved Classic Pooh, as written by A.A.Milne, and brilliantly illustrated by E.H. Shepard. The first rubber stamps I ever owned were Classic Pooh ones, the  good old fashioned wooden ones.

I have created these Classic Pooh cards to celebrate this special day. I have sent them to my fellow Classic Pooh friends. I water coloured my background, and the images. I used a lot of masking to stamp the overlapping bunch of balloons. Pooh always needs honey so of course I stamped him lots of honey jars!

Pooh and friends joined us on a recent trip to the forest, and he enjoyed sitting on his thinking log.

I made a Classic Pooh cake today, with a marzipan Pooh, and a chocolate flake covered log.

Thank you for visiting, and please stay safe, the covid numbers are high, and increasing every day xx

Disabled abuse is not ok.

Hello how are you today? I am not sure what has happened to the summer, we had a few nice sunny days in July, but now we seem to have descended into Autumn.
Today I am sharing a picture, I am not sure if it will be a large card or a picture to put on the wall.

I began by cutting  a 17.78cm square from a watercolour sheet, I used a pale yellow wash all over, followed by yellow and lemon brushos on the edges. I somehow managed to get a bit of an orange blob onto it, but it doesn’t look too bad and I will cover it up later. I stamped and clear embossed  honeycomb from Artistic Stamper around the edges.

I drew my silhouette ( not exactly wonderfully) and die cut it. It does not die cut very well at a smaller size. I think because the spokes on the wheel are so delicate. I have cut out a few if any of my crafty friends  would like one please contact me.

I stamped bees from Indigoblu and Artistic stamper, after water colouring them, I clear embossed their little bodies, and added glitter to their wings. We have had a lot of bumble bees in our garden this year, which is lovely.

I stamped and fussy cut a selection of flowers and leaves, all of them were water coloured and fussy cut. I used black stickles in the centre of some, and a clear beads on the centre of others. I slightly shaped some of the flowers and leaves (after I took this photo).

I used  decoupage pads to adhere my silhouette, words, flowers, and added a few gems, and sequins too.
I finished by edging the picture with black.

Stay safe xx

Bubble background

Hello how are you today? I have been playing with bubbles which is always fun, and this time it was crafting too! I was experimenting with making bubbly backgrounds. I have tried this before without much success. This time was a little more successful, so I thought I would share my discoveries.

I began by putting some inexpensive acrylic paint in a shallow bowl, and adding some fairy liquid and water. I used a straw to blow into the colourful liquid to make bubbles. I soon discovered that I needed a lot more paint, fairy liquid and water than I thought I did. After adding more the bubbles overflowed the top of the bowl, hurrah! I lowered my Mixed Media paper onto the bubbles, but this was not too successful. So I went with a scooping motion, and scooped the bubbles up onto the paper and left them to pop naturally.

This was a lot more successful! I only used red, blue and a purple, but I will try more colours next time.

I hope I have inspired you to play with bubbles and make some bubbly backgrounds xx

Alice In Wonderland Book

Hello, and thank you for stopping by. Today I am happy to be escaping to Wonderland.

“Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality.”

 Lewis Carroll

I used a papier-mâché  book from Hobbycraft, on reflection I wish I had purchased a better quality one as this one had lumps and bumps, and was not very sturdy. I covered it with beautiful Alice rice papers and paint. I also added a white rabbit as he wanted to be followed into the book.

I had never used moulds before, but when Stamperia released their new Alice range and it included moulds I of course had to get them! I used clay many years ago, but it was clay which had to be baked in the oven, and I made things freehand. So air drying clay and moulds were all new to me.After many attempts I decided to use one of the white rabbits which did not turn out too badly, some of them were dreadful, and looked a bit frightening ! I used acrylics to paint him.

To cover the inside of the bookI used  pages from a vintage Alice book and stamped over them with playing card suits and other whatnots from my large collection of Alice Stamps.
I fussy cut the beautiful scenes  from the Stamperia papers and folded them and assembled it into the book so they would pop out when opened. I worked it all out on copy paper first :  )
I had fun adding lots of embellishments, hanging some down from the top of the book etc.

Thank you for popping into Wonderland today, and I hope you enjoyed your visit xx

Happy Easter Weekend

I would like to wish my crafty friends a wonderfully happy and healthy long Easter weekend. I still have some polystyrene eggs to somehow decorate before tomorrow, but I have managed to make a few Hare cards using the  beautiful new Hare die by Creative Expressions

I am thrilled to say that my Spring Scene frame is in the May issue of Crafts Beautiful magazine! They have sent me  a huge and very generous package of Hunkydory goodies. To share the joy I will add some of the goodies to my next blog giveaway which I will be doing sometime soon.

Not long to the craft show at Alexandra Palace, sadly Indigoblu are not going to be there, so I won’t get my hug : (  but it will still be wonderful to meet everyone else. Just hope I will be ok on the day to go ..

Little House On The Prairie

Earlier this year I was very lucky and won the challenge at Fashionable Stamping. My wonderful prize was a voucher for Flonzcraft, so of course I immediately browsed their stamps. They have some very lovely and unique stamps. As soon as I saw this girl stamp I immediately thought of Laura Ingalls from Little House on the Prairie! It is one of mine and my Mother's favourite tv shows, so I  just  had to choose her, and then of course I needed the wagon to go with her too!

I decided to make a bendi card, it was fairly easy to make, if you have never made one you should give it a try! On the bottom level I added some layers of raffia.on the higher level I added some texture paste which I later painted. I watercoloured a background. After stamping the images with black Archival ink, I coloured them with watercolours. I fussy cut the lovely images and adhered them to the card. I stamped some leaves and cut them out, and added them to the scene.

I think it looks a little like a scene from Little House, it is going to be my Mothers Easter card.

Thank you for visiting today.

This months theme at Indigoblu is All You Need Is Love.

One of English Literatures most famous romantic writers was Jane Austen. Amongst many other classic novels she of course wrote "Pride and Prejudice".I thought that it would be fitting to pay a her a special tribute, she did give us Mr Darcy after all!

You can read all the details about how I made this tribute on the Indigoblu Blog
